HIV remains a significant public health concern in Uganda, but with proper testing, early diagnosis, and access to treatment, people living with HIV can lead long, healthy, and productive lives. At SAREC Medicare Centre, we are committed to providing compassionate, confidential HIV services to every member of our community — without judgment or stigma.

HIV Counseling & Testing (HCT)

Knowing your HIV status is the first step towards protecting yourself and your loved ones. Our HIV testing services include:

• Pre-test counseling — A confidential conversation to prepare you for the test and discuss your questions
• Rapid HIV testing — Results available within minutes using nationally approved test kits
• Post-test counseling — Regardless of the result, our counselors will provide support, guidance, and next steps
• Couples testing — We encourage partners to test together in a supportive environment

Linkage to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART)

For patients who test positive, timely initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) is critical. Our team provides:

• Immediate linkage to a certified ART centre for treatment initiation
• Education on ART adherence and what to expect during treatment
• Ongoing monitoring support including CD4 count and viral load tracking
• Emotional and psychosocial support through the transition

Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT)

Our maternal health programme includes routine HIV testing for all pregnant women as part of antenatal care. For HIV-positive mothers, we provide PMTCT interventions to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus to the baby during pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding.

Prevention & Awareness

SAREC Medicare Centre is committed to HIV prevention through community education and awareness programmes. We provide information on:

• Safe sexual practices and condom use
• Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for high-risk individuals
• Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) after potential exposure
• Reducing stigma and encouraging regular testing
